Haven't even finished my two artillery munition vehicles, but have already started on a third vehicle. This time the predecessor...
It's funny how small the world is! But this time it won't be another head-to-head race! I am just randomly trying out which parts ought to be new and which I could reuse. @Charlie CI have the intention that the wheels were an evolution of steam traction design indeed. But nevertheess there was a patent specially for artillerie tractors, the so called "Pöhl-Rad":
Hi Peter,
It is indeed a small world...
As far as I can tell, the vehicles are basically the same apart from the front wheels, a different back of the cabine and the back of the vehicle has a fixing point for the Lastenverteilergerät and room for 2 small planks and 2 wedge thingies used for loading a gun into the Lastenverteilergerät.
Arie, your 55hp tractor looks very good. I especially like the brass frame! The fixing point for the Lastenverteilergerät is reinforced by beams as you can make out in this drawing and the picture. The Lastenverteilgerät itself is a nightmare for CAD work
At least, all that boring breaking off, patching, glueing, filling, sanding and cursing finally leads to an outcome.
Primer:
Preshading:
First coat of paint:
Hmm, all that pre-shading turned out as obsolete. Perhaps, the difference between the brown primer and the black shading was too little. So I have to work more with washings and filters.
But now the funny part begins : weathering!
Cheers, Peter

Nice to hear again from one of the "old guard"! It seems, that this forum isn't used so frequently yet. All the more I am happy to see your recent work too in this forum - a very unusual subject indeed!
All the best from Switzerland, Peter

Hi Peter!
I'm afraid many forums are a bit deserted those time!
I'm always happy to visit Landships even if there is not a lot of comments there. it is my fault too : I not always post pics of my new models. But I'm always happy to see your work!
All the very best.
Gilles
I needed a little push to try out doing some rain marks. It was my first attempt to represent a vehicle with some traces of humity and rain. Here another comparison picture - it is gradually taking shape...
I have seen been admiring that picture for quite some time. I love how you painted the concrete. It looks very realistic!
I too have never been any good at painting figures. That was untill I discovered the paint sets from Vallejo (fi: how to paint faces, how to paint leather, wood, etc). I followed these instructions and am quite satisfied with how it turned out.
Thanks! The link to that project is in my bio, if you are interested in historical subjects in general!
And indeed, concerning figure painting you give me renowed hope. IMHO this modelling sector is the top league. I had almost given up all hope, but it seems, that the right tools are the key - cool figure!
Cheers, Peter

That is indeed where I have seen that picture before. It is a great model!
This is one of the paintset I mean. It contains a step by step description of how to apply which colour. You cannot go wrong. Believe me, this figure is only my second attempt..
Thanks gents for your words and Arie for the hint with the paintset! Definetly I should give it a try!!!
The project is nearing completion - some paint here and there and some details are still missing (lamps, ladder, etc.). And that's why isn't glued together yet, just assembled for the photo - to be seen at the knock-kneed rear wheels
Actually motivation is within limits, but maybe I can bring myself to create a small base of a wet road to underline the wintery conditions...

Congratulations Peter, this is such an impressive project and your paint and weathering are truly amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished article.

Sorry, there will be no article, but I call the project done! Here some final detail photos. Only a small base is missing yet (But that will take some times, as my airbrush has given up due to too much aggressive lacquers!).
Now I have also a "Dürkopp 80hp" in my stash, but I am not so sure if this will be my very next project...
