I came across some photographs on the internet and decided to have a go at building one, here are the results. The wheels and horses were from the Italeri WW2 German Horse Drawn Wagon set. -- Edited by DaveS on Friday 12th of December 2014 10:51:53 AM
Uncorroborated, but allegedly from the lips of Hornby's rep: "Airfix are making some new moulds for WWI. Look out for new artillery sets and diaoramas." That's all I know.
Minairons are specialized in Spanish Civil War stuff, but for obvious reasons they do some kits suitable for WW1. Last week they have put a Renault TSF in 1/72 into their pipeline, due to be released in February: http://minairons-news.blogspot.de/p/pipeline.html I guess it this is the HäT FT (whi...

I was just browsing the latest Casemate Publishing catalog and came upon a couple of beauties. First is German Artillery: 1914-1918 by Wolfgang Fleischer, which is due out in January. The other is Italian Artillery of WWII, from MMP's Green Line, out in May. The focus is obviously on WW2 use, bu...
Hi everyone Today, I discovered, is the centenary of the establishment of the Canadian Automobile Machine-Gun Brigade. Using armoured cars mounted with machine guns they would provide cover fire to Canadian and British soldiers. I found this greta blog post about them at http://www.illustrate...
Recently received the ex-BK Modelcraft (now Matador) 8 inch Howitzer from Scalelink after repeated watching of the 'Battle of the Somme' film. Haven't read or seen an image of it before so thought a few first impressions would be of interest. It is all metal and captures the look of the early 8 inch how...

On Mr. Lovett's excellent site there are pictures of his 75mm artillery in green, yellow, white and black camouflage. Was this scheme also used on American C17 155mm howitzers. If not can someone suggest alternative American camouflage.
I am current working on ACEs C17 155mm howitzer. There are several shells in the set. Can someone help me with the colours used by the french artillery for the different types of shells? Thanks
Was specifically hunting for a copy pdf or otherwise of "A Compendium of Drawings of Tanks Mark V - IX and Some Experimental Tanks" published 1920 mlrs books apparently (by hunting this forum) used to sell it but they must have folded subsequently.
On a site entitled tank encyclopaedia there is an illustration of a female MkIV with a grenade netting. Is this poetic licence by the illustrator or did actually happen? I thought such netting removed after the MkI.
Back to basics: Are there any photographs of the second prototype (Big Willie, Mother, etc) actually with the name HMLS Centipede "stencilled on the side", as is often claimed? Have I seen it and just forgotten?
Hi, guys! Now I have some photos from the town of Niğde, Turkey, where one can see the Russian 87-мм light field gun M1877 on the Engelgard M1895 carriage for foot artillery. As one can see, this gun was designed for use with Treuille de Beaulieu screw breech. AFAIK there were precious few of such a...
Been thinking. A number of points have occurred to me about the mgs in the Mk V and V*. As we know, the Mk V had a mount for a machine gun at the rear. In combat, was the gun mounted permanently or only when required? Since the Mk V had 2 more crew available than the IV, was the rear mg permanently manned? Tanks s...
Something not quite as contemptuous as my last question (I hope) I was looking at the CAD drawings of Strelets' 9.2" on their site - appears to be more complicated than the previous models. When I looked at the figures, unusually they are in winter clothing. If the finished figures are Ok they sh...
Just a thought: we know the Mk V had an extra machine-gun position between the rear horns; does anyone know if a gun was fitted in the mount permanently or only when required? The V had two extra crew members available, so was the rear gun permanently manned? Did the V carry a spare mg, as the earlier Marks...
Greetings, This photo is pasted in the rear flyleaf of my copy of The Tank Corps by Ellis.? Throughout the book, the original owner stamped his name, Sherman H. Nelson, and pasted several cut-out caricatures from stationary of the (AEF) Tank Corps mascot "Tom" with the slogan, "Tre...
