Hi, new member with a possible thorny old question. I want to paint up some a/c's that will work for the 3rd Afghan War and into the 1920s in the region (Waziristan etc). I have read many views on what colour these vehicles were painted from grey, to white, to service colour, to desert khaki. I expect the...
Please note the attached image. Can any forum member ID the German (?) lorry manufacturer that produced this rather unusual rear suspension assembly? Regards .... Rod -- Edited by BSM on Thursday 18th of December 2014 07:51:57 AM
I've always been fascinated by this odd quasi-turban, and have hoped to get my hands on one, since I have difficulty understanding how they are assembled. I've seen a few on eBay over the years but they've always ended up out of my price range; have yet to find a manufacturer of reproductions of them. Th...
While scanning British WWI documents at NARA, I came across six pages that describe Australian Corps and Division signs. I thought the members of this forum may find them interesting. Regards, Marc
Having finally managed to get hold of a Mister X conversion set i will get on with converting an Emhar. There are a couple of questions that someone out there will be able to answer 1. Was there an escape hatch at the front of the tank like the MkI/II supply tanks? 2. I suspect there was but which way does it...
I have obtained a several of their kits and intend to convert some for other uses. I have built the machine gun carrier and found it ok but a little flimsy. I used these as a basis for scratch building a couple of vehicles from photographs. Accuracy is not guaranteed, sorry.
Greetings all. I thought I'd share a few photos of my all paper, self designed, Holt 1-man tank realized in @ 1/24 scale. There isn't too much information out there about this little parade tank - a Youtube video, a few black and white photos, and a wikipedia article. From what I've gleaned, it was used p...
A) Several accounts say that Mephisto was recovered with the assistance of Gun Carriers. Just noticed that in the Tankograd book MH & RS say "with a couple of Mk V tanks." Who's right? B) Wikipedia says Mephisto stood in No Man's Land "with dead crew inside." AFAIK the crew a...
I came across some photographs on the internet and decided to have a go at building one, here are the results. The wheels and horses were from the Italeri WW2 German Horse Drawn Wagon set. -- Edited by DaveS on Friday 12th of December 2014 10:51:53 AM
Uncorroborated, but allegedly from the lips of Hornby's rep: "Airfix are making some new moulds for WWI. Look out for new artillery sets and diaoramas." That's all I know.
Minairons are specialized in Spanish Civil War stuff, but for obvious reasons they do some kits suitable for WW1. Last week they have put a Renault TSF in 1/72 into their pipeline, due to be released in February: http://minairons-news.blogspot.de/p/pipeline.html I guess it this is the HäT FT (whi...

I was just browsing the latest Casemate Publishing catalog and came upon a couple of beauties. First is German Artillery: 1914-1918 by Wolfgang Fleischer, which is due out in January. The other is Italian Artillery of WWII, from MMP's Green Line, out in May. The focus is obviously on WW2 use, bu...
Hi everyone Today, I discovered, is the centenary of the establishment of the Canadian Automobile Machine-Gun Brigade. Using armoured cars mounted with machine guns they would provide cover fire to Canadian and British soldiers. I found this greta blog post about them at http://www.illustrate...
Recently received the ex-BK Modelcraft (now Matador) 8 inch Howitzer from Scalelink after repeated watching of the 'Battle of the Somme' film. Haven't read or seen an image of it before so thought a few first impressions would be of interest. It is all metal and captures the look of the early 8 inch how...
