Thank you - the images are much better. I have a Gimp script which should be able to pull the images back to square.

The data on the guns seems to have a key value which I can figure out for some data values but not others - the ones

which are a bit puzzling for me are:

h0 - wheel diameter?

i0 - track (distance between the wheel centres).?

Qb - total weight?

Qm - no idea what this means

Qi - barrel weight?

Have you got a citation for the book please. That is author, title, publisher and date as they appear on the title page (don't translate the Polish)

I will credit you in the article as your landships name, if you want me to use your real name please PM me.

Regards,

Charlie

This is a book: Stefan Pataj "Artyleria Ladowa 1871-1970", Wydawnictwo Ministerstwa obrony narodowej, Warszawa, 1975

h0 - wysokosc linii ognia (height of the line of fire)
i0 - dlugosc odrzutu lufy (Length recoil barrel)
Qb - ciezar bojowy (Weight battle)
Qm - ciezar marszowy (Weight march)
Qł - ciezar łoza (Weight osier)
Ql - ciezar lufy z zamkiem (Weight barrel with lock)

(Translation from Polish into English by a translate.google.ru)

Best regards!

Thank you - there's enough data in the captions to make up fairly credible data tables.

There is an error - Herbert Jäger and another source which I cannot remember quote the emplaced weight of the IG L/20 as 815kg not 855kg.

Regards,

Charlie

Hi!

Returning to the subject FK96
This is the page from the book Franz Kosar Artillerie im 20.Jahrhundert. It is unclear what kind of gun: IG, KiH, NKK or is it the other gun??????

Yes - that's a puzzling page in Kosar's book.  The comments translate as "The Geschùtz differs only slightly from the field gun, 77 mm, M 96 nA".

There were some small differences between the pre-war FK 96 n.A and those built during the war but I wouldn't have thought the differences

were enough to identify it as a different type. It certainly isn't one of the Infanteriegeschutz derivatives in the article or the KiH - perhaps Kosar

is referring to the Nahkampfkanone.

Charlie

Thanks for that. I had the original article filed away since I always found Brennan's conversion articles very useful. Sadly he hasn't frequented the forum for years.

New cardmodel - 1/50 Morris-Martel One-man tankette. New designer - Sergey Kamotsky. Sergey's has been posting free download models

for a while on Russian websites but it's quite difficult for many english speakers to negotiate these sites. He has allowed us to co-host his

models. There are some WW1 subjects coming up once I translate the Russian text and repackage the models as .pdfs.

Only 2 of the Morris-Martel tankettes were built, along with 2 two-man tankettes but it was the start of the interwar interest in tankettes.

As an aside - the tracks for the Morris-Martel were supplied by the firm Roadless Traction - the firm that Johnson and colleagues

established after the design bureau responsible for the Medium D was shut down.

Charlie

New artillery article on the 8inch(203mm) M1913 Siege Gun.

Found an image of the 8inch gun in a 1914 Schneider catalogue. The gun didn't get manufactured for WW1 although a contract was

signed in 1914 for 32 guns. I had spent so much time trying to find information on the gun I thought I'd write it up as an example

of the state of Russian artillery manufacture during WW1.

New article on the 48-line (122mm) M1904 howitzer. Fairly short article since only a small number of these howitzers

were built. This howitzer is another demonstration of the problems the Russian Army had in updating the artillery park

before WW1. I think the point is that the Russians made real efforts to source modern artillery from their own resources

but found imported designs were generally superior to the best the local manufacturers could produce.

Charlie, can these kits be reproduced in 1/76th - 1/72nd scale, and if so, what would I have to set my printer settings to do it??

Cheers,

Grant

The file is a .pdf so you should be able to set the print scaling with "Page Setup" in Acrobat Reader.

Printing at 69% will be close to 1/72 and 66% to 1/76.

Charlie

Thanks for that Charlie. I do prefer to model in the 'conventional' scales, as posing some figures along side this vehicle will give it a sense of proportion.

New cardmodel - 1/50 Mannesmann-Mulag Armoured Truck model by Sergey Kamotsky. Although the Mannesmann truck was German

in origin the Russians armoured one to accompany the light Russo-Balt armoured cars of the 1st Armoured Car company in 1914.

New cardmodel - 1/50 Little Willie model by Sergey Kamotsky. It's a fairly simple model but the steering tail is quite well done (imho).

http://landships.info/landships/models.html

Also - had to block access to the Gun Carrier model - it was written up on a website which (seemingly) every Chinese cardmodeler looks at - the stampede was going to take us over our monthly bandwidth limit.

Charlie

Hello Charlie

I keep getting the following message when trying to download 1/50 design by Sergey Kamotsky of the Vezdekhod Armoured Vehicle 1915

"File does not exist. Make sure you specified correct file name."

I can download his other files easily enough.

regards

Richard Simmie
