Hi, does anyone have any photos of the french version of the Renault Ft 17 engine showing in detail the wiring and tubing ? I am building a 1/16 kit with full interior but the models instructions do not give any indication of where the cables should be in the engine or drivers compartment. thanks, Steve....
Hi Guys! Originally posted over at the papermodelers forum, I present my latest build - Wayne M's MkI Female Chablis, with additional grenade/bomb roof. Enlarged to 1/50 (from the original 1/72) to accommodate my chubby fingers(!). Loved building this one and am now in the process of the MkII.....
Having had the opportunity to photo and measure an example.....a model is nearing completion....it forms the basis of a master pattern to be cast in resin.....at the moment we are trying to find any info on markings other than the standard W D, some had a number (census number) on a couple of areas. One...
Hello, Following a question from Rob (Mar 29 2009): I bought the MACK AC 'BULLDOG" (all RPM)?Typ HC 3 (early), Typ EHC (late) and Typ TK3 (late), I suppose last two were never active on the Western front during WW1: They say a lot of the MACK lorries were used on the Western front in France?(about 20...
This one is a fairly simple variant - the axle tree seats were removed and the brake lever modified so that it could be operated by a lanyard from the limber. Anyone know if this variant had an official designation? It's noted in Bethell's 1910 artillery book. The image is one of these guns on the Easte...
What color(s) would be alright for the Hat WW I German field wagon? I am thinking of painting it H78. What colors would the cover and horse harnesses be painted? Thanks in advance.
at www.comroestudios.com/StanHanna they have the Austro-Hungarian official history all volumes online in English and German. I found it on the Axis History Forums Austria-Hungary section
Hi! The last work I completed today, one more time in the WW1 range. This is an american Knox prime mover used to pull a french La Buire trailer. The vehicle was deployed improve the strategic mobility of the Schneider CD used in the heavy artillery regiments, but was later employed in the tank unit to...
This is a CGI model I built, I used this site for many of my reference photos, so I thought I would share the almost end result. I tried to be as accurate as possible but in the end took a couple of short cuts so I could be done with the modeling phase (the side platforms and the grate type on the rear platform,...
Just read that a TV series is being filmed, featuring the week-by-week activities of the members of an IPMS branch somewhere in south-east England. Provisional title is "The Only Way Is Airfix." Will keep you informed.
Might be old news, but I find this a puzzle. Is it a Cambrai casualty? And what nationality are the officers? German? I can't make sense of the tunics.
I've been doing some research on this area, and have hit a snag. Two different reputable sources quote two different numbers for tanks present at Fleurs in 1916 (the baptism of fire). ? Fire-Power by Shelford Bidwell & Dominick Graham say out of 49, 32 reached the start, 9 broke down, 9 failed to re...
I have recently received several sets of figures from W^D models and what delightful quality models they are. ?I have been in touch with Barry to see if figures or heads might be sculpted of 'tankers' wearing the leather protective head gear. ?He has responded saying that he has insufficient referen...
I have built both the male and female tanks and added the odd bit of extra detailing. I opened up the top hatch and the side door on the sponson. The plastic scaled up would have been rather thick armour plate. I also added some home made grousers to the tracks. ? -- Edited by DaveS on Sunday 23rd of March 201...

Greetings, Attached is a picture of an armored car that has stumped me for an identification. An old car enthusiast thought there were hints of "Cadillac" but that is as much information as I have gathered on it. Does anyone have any suggestions or can offer a positive identification? THa...

Just had this email "RCD has just replied to a topic you have subscribed to entitled New Roden 1914 pattern? Rolls Royce Armoured car on Landships WW1 Forum". It gave the usual URL to click to see it, but the page, and as far as I can see the new reply, are nonexistent. The basic website is indee...
Mr. Josh Tarrant, the very kind Information Officer at the Queensland Museum & Sciencentre (sic), has been good enough to send the following reply to my enquiry about Mephisto's welfare: The January 2011 flooding entered the display enclosure for Mephisto and came part way up its tracks. As so...
I recently read (in Christy Campbell's 'Band of Brigands') that the early camouflage of the first Mk 1 tanks was described by Prime Minister Herbert Asquith as 'cubist' while Maurice Hanky, Secretary of the Committee of Imperial Defence, who accompanied Asquith on his visit to Yvrench in early Sep...
It my be strange but I want to build a Masterbox Mk I? without its steering wheels and netting. Can anyone out there suggest the name and number of any female Mk I that saw action without the steering wheels or sources of information. This leads to the second question - was there any official font used on B...
I notice that the menus on Landships II are growing to the point of being unwieldy. For example the German artillery menu is so long you have to scroll to see all of it. When I converted the old freeservers.landships website I kept the high level organisation of the website and made it uniform across the...
