We've discussed the dummy A7V in a British WWII film a few times. Assuming the film was made by the Ministry of Information, there's no sign of it on Wkipedia's list of such films. Could Wikipedia be wrong? Whatever next? The only firm documentation we have up to now is thIs list: http://www.south-ce...
Looking on the web, I see that the standard marking seems to be "SUPPLY", but I've also come across a model with the name "BAGGAGE" on the sponson. Is "BAGGAGE" incorrect? Tony
Looked at the Emhar kit's 6pr shields and had a nasty thought - shouldn't the vision slits in the shields be handed for each side - i.e. both on the outside of the gun? But then the gun sights would also have to be handed! Looking at pictures doesn't seem to help - I've seen handed ones, i/s face slits on both...
How valuable is a No5 MkI Center cast grenade. Not so long ago I swapped it and noticed that it was different from my standard sidecast ones so did some research and found it is called a centercast grenade The base plug is marked No5 MkI 7/15 PATENTS 2111/15 24??/15 3559/15 MILLS MUNITIONS Co...
Apart from the Hogg book on WW1 allied artillery, and the Osprey on British Heavy Artillery of WW1, are there any books recommended for British railway guns/howitzers? Attached is a great photo of a 12 inch Mk V railway howitzer taken at the Armstrong Whitworth works

It seems that the Sunbeam 16 and 24, (1915-1924) is the subject of a recently published book, (ISBN: 978-0957420809). This is reviewed in the Automobile, (June 2013, volume 31, number 4), which refers to 4000 Sunbeams built by the Rover Co. Ltd. under a wartime agreement. With so little information...
I am working on some 1:35 emhar marks and i would like to improve their look. With the recent news of better kits i dont feel the need to go too far on details but i should finish these before buying yet more kits for the undone pile. On prototype rhomboid tanks is there a guide that runs between the small met...
In following up on Eclipse II, there is reference to Eclipse and the crew being the same in both; this I find to be dubious, given the time of Eclipse being put out of action and Eclipse II only appearing on the scene at Cambrai. The question I have is would crews be interchangeable between Male and Female...
I would be most grateful for any details available on the proposed spaced armour on Mk 1 tanks. This is identified by images of Mk1's with protrusions on the bodies; although no images have yet appeared to indicate that the spaced armour was fitted. I have photos but would appreciate any others you m...
It's not spam from an electrical company. And it includes both British and German tanks. Noticed on the drawing of the Mk VII that there's a "lighting dynamo" under the driver's seat. I don't know if that was for internal or external lighting or both, but it's the first time I've seen any ref...
I recently acquired the attach Tank Corps photo of a couple of FT17s in a workshop. The Tank in the foreground is marked on the rear, "A-34" over "U.S." In his book, Organizations and Markings of United States Armor Units, Charles Lemons states on page 13, "...in prepar...
As I have discussed previously, I am building a model of the MkIV male tank "Eclipse II" in which my great-uncle was killed. The basic information came from that great book on Cambrai "Following the tanks", but it seemed from the photo of the derelict tank in the book that the tan...
According to Masterbox website the new WW1 figures based on Battle of the Somme are out. Can't find anyone with stock , yet http://www.mbltd.info/35158.htm
Hello, in this way I like to introduce myself. I am 52 years old, and like to restart building rc-tanks. A couple of years ago I started a Mark IV Projekt in scale 1/10. At that time I had the chance to work on laser cutting machines...but that is over since 5 years. In future I will do this metalwork on a cnc m...
I am looking for information on the use of the Hughes Telegragh in the WW I period I understand it was widely used by the Austro-Hungarian and Russian armies during this period. Does anyone have any other information on its use? I am also looking for information on talking to someone by telephone long d...
Testing the accepted wisdom again: It's often stated that the Americans took back to the USA about 200 FTs - some give the exact figure of 209. Why would they do that? The M1917 was just entering mass production at the end of 1918. They had ordered 1,200, and, apparently, increased the order to 4,400, al...
They keep coming; isn't it great~! The sculptor must know something about horse-back riding. This is the only piece I've ever seen that correctly captures a mounted rider at a gallop; the trooper is posting~! Most realistic.....
"Part of the park was originally in the parish of Walsoken. This was known as Marsh Fields and owned by the Church Commissioners. It was rented out as market garden land and grazing". 1919 "Came the tank, another feature in the park and given to the town in recognition of its war sav...
Hot on the heels of the news about Tamiya's new motorized offering comes this nice tidbit from Takom. Looks like they're including just about anything we might wish for, except maybe a bigger decal sheet.
My son, who lives in Riga, sent these photos that he took at Cinevilla, a backlot in Tukums, Latvia. It was created for the outdoor shootings of the feature film Defenders of Riga.
The primary journal of French artillery Revue d'Artillerie ceased publication during WW1. I've always wondered if there were other artillery publications which were published during WW1. There were - and one of them is on the Gallica archive - it's the "Bulletin de Renseignements de l'Art...
While doing a search for publications dealing with WW1 vehicles, I came across the following gem: Author : Wolfgang Fleischer Title : Militarfahrzeuge des deutshen Heeres 1905 - 1918 Publisher : Typenkompass / MotorbuchVerlag ISBN : 978-3-613-03358-0 Pages : 127 I think I got it through Amazon or...
Hi Everyone, Let me preface this by saying that I know nothing of the following vehicle, rather, I hoped that it might be of some interest to any Landships members in the UK and France when it arrives for a tour later this month (May 2014). This is a clipping from my local rag (in Worcester, MA, USA) w...
