Does any one out there have any details of camouflage on Mk IV tanks? No Mk I or II please. I know of one camouflaged Mk IV and I want to see if it's a one off (and I'd like to interpret the colours from the monochrome photos).
In Nov 1917 British tanks visited Canada One tank went first to Hamilton and then to Toronto. I thought I'd found an additional reference to this on a Canadian forum in the enclosed Newspaper account. But it doesn't refer to this - look at the date for example. Reading the article it appears to refer to a...
Contemporary photos of the Fowler tractor show a darker colour for the wheels and running gear. I found a photo of a surviving British Army tractor from 1907 finished in grey and black, so that's the colour scheme I went with.? The hubs appearred to be a lighter metallic finish, and all the surviving Fo...
Thanks to Simmers for inspiring me to plough through the second half of Treat 'Em Rough. A bit unsettling that Captain Wilson refers throughout to the "St. Chaumond",?calls the 37mm gun?a "Poteaux", and describes a crib but calls it a fascine. Anyhoo, he does state that in the...

Picked up this at the weekend, an ammunition box for the Hotchkiss MG's on Mk V and Whippet tanks - any idea of its rarity/value? Heard different estimates as to how much it's worth at the weekend, which vary from me being completely ripped off, or that I could sell it for the price of an SMLE! Nice bit of eq...
I won a photo and photo postcard on eBay recently. The photo is of a Mk I male, probably at or near Arras, with the WD number not only on the front horn but also on the sponson. Has anyone else seen WD numbers, matching or otherwise, on the sponsons?
I've just read that?the Mk V and V* Tanks used by the US in France were all? hermaphrodites. Is that right? Having just had another look at previous posts, I form the impression that quite a large number of British vehicles were fitted out as hermaphrodites. Anyone any details? -- Edited by James H at 10...
? Quite some time ago I posted on Landships that I hoped to produce an item on the Tank Britannia that toured North America in 1917 and 18.. However it did not materialise as I kept getting stuck. Parts of the jigsaw refused to fit whilst others began to look 'wrong'. I think I now have, if not the whole scen...

If you remember the del Prado Great War figures that came out a few years ago, each came with an Osprey?booklet that was an abbreviated version of the real thing. Imagine my surprise on reading this paragraph in the one that accompanied No.13 (Sergeant, Lancashire Fusiliers, Somme, 1916): Tanks, a f...

I was surpised to see that John Prigent's book PANZERWAFFE: Vol. 1 had a large section on WW1. I was thinking of buying the book. Has anyone had a chance to read the text? Has anyone seen the color profiles? Jentz and Doyle are credited with providing the drawings on which the profiles are based. Best Reg...

Here's a photo and a short article on the Hinckley, Leicestershire presentation tank - anyone know anything about its history? Supposedly it served in France, but as most of you already know, they said that about all the tanks and they were mostly training ones! [IMG]https://i282.photobucket.co...
