Well folks it's that time of the year.. I'm thinking of getting the ""Tank Museum Monopoly"NEW! Tank Museum Monopoly Play your way around The Tank Museum, with pieces including the Mark IV and Tiger tank, buying up the Museum’s tank collection. Pick up a card from the Officer’s mess or the Quarter Ma...
I'm sure I read somewhere (thought it was on this site but can't find it now!) that the 2 stowage bins in front of the main turret where later additions just prior to WW2. Can anyone confirm if this is indeed the case or I simply imagined it? Any photos would be great too. Many thanks Gary EDIT: Think I've f...
This is "2080 B28 Black Arrow II" on the attack of Cambrai battle 20.11.1917 http://s142.photobucket.com/user/wollhodden/library/MKIV%20MALE%201_35%20TAMIYA
Mk I, II, IV tanks were generally named, some becoming famous and well-known by their names; the later Mk VIIIs, or some at least, had names; but what about the Mk V and V*? I can't think of any examples, they tend to be just a call sign and WD number. Or am I wrong?
My co-author, Greg Heuer, and I are happy to announce the release of our new Osprey book 'Railway Guns of World War I.' The book describes in chronological order, why and how railway-mounted guns were developed, the different technological approaches taken by each army, and how the guns were field...

Hi, all: (I'm brand new to this forum and this is my first post.) I'm working on the old 1/35 Emhar Mk IV tank and have decided to replicate a Cambrai fascine layer with this kit. I'm especially determined to do this after finding Mr. "Thorst's" brilliant auto-cad drawing explaining the device o...
Hiya, Very recently I came across this book: La super-artillerie allemande à Verdun. Looks like a great read. I have ordered it, but it seems my local book shop has trouble tracking it down... With kind regards, -Arie.
I'd just found this original film footage of "Beutetanks" captured after the Battle of Cambrai. https://www.filmothek.bundesarchiv.de/video/583347 You can find and discuss many details! Because it's german I'd translated the introducing texts as good as I can: #1 (00:00): After the Tank Bat...
Phew, one thing I can confirm by now, it's really crowded in there! It's a Greeting card and audio recording module (BRC36) built in. Due the lack on space I'll have to "reduce" the crew a bit.. (not in the photo, the chap whose only represented ba his arm)
I'd got the Tamiya kit and like to motorize it with a Tamiya Twin-Motor or Double Gearbox (where's the difference?) to get both tracks separatly driven. But I don't really have a clue how to do this..!? Does somebody got some experience or knew a good info, maybe? I think I will need a R/C Controller with...
To get a good and secure round view the commander and driver of Tanks were equipped with hand periscopes. It was possible to stick them out of the "tear-shaped" covered holes of the roof (Mk.IV). Because the were vulnerage to damage, there were (should be) issued 6 pieces to each Tank (see Haynes book...
There were many hundreds of Holt 5- and 10-ton artillery tractors in service on the Western Front by the time of the Armistice. During the 1920s a number of these tractors were declared surplus and sold for civilian use. There are some survivors as well as remnant machines restored to working condit...
Since when were the grouser/spuds on tracks used and were there Male tanks with some attached at the Battle of Cambrai in action? I didn't found any sources, yet. Is the combination of a Male MkIV tank with a fascine and spudded tracks possible, are there any pics, maybe? Thanks for your help, in advanc...
...by which I mean those additional spuds seen on the tracks of some tanks. Anyone know how many were issued to each tank?? Or indeed, whether there was a?particular number in a set???In fact information on?any aspect of these would be appreciated, such as how were they fitted?? Was there any particu...
As part of the cooperation with the infantry there were given out signals from the tank crew. Doing this there was a stick with coloured discs used. - Green Disc = "Wire Cut" - Red Disc = "Wire Not Cut" - Red Disc over Green Disc = "Have Reached Objective" - White Disc over Red Disc = "Enemy in Dugouts" - 3 Red...
I can't find records to indicate that US Tank Corps units were assigned to the Army of Occupation / American Forces Germany in the 1919-1920 era, but this photo has turned up in a couple of different patches of Occupation / AFG photos. It has a Lindstedt / Zimmerman photographer's stamp, so that point...
Hello, While researching color schemes for my St Chamond build, I came across the AK Interactive Publishing book "WWI The First Mechanized War", wherein they show color chips attributable to St Chamonds that include a color they describe as "French Purple". Can anyone tell me if this is accurate an...
I really enjoy to be back (once more..) It still haunts be from time to time! I can't get completly loose from this (and why should I?!) This time I stumbled, "by accident", over the Tamiya 1:35 Mark IV Male Tank. Like this the circle closes in and I'm back the scale I startet with armour building as a kid! I...
Does anyone know what the release hook looks like and its exact location behind the drivers cab for the chains holding Fascines on Mark IV tanks and Cribs on the Mark V's. From studying photographs it appears the chains holding the Crib on Mark V tanks are attached to a release mechanism somewhere ce...
I was talking with some friends about modern barbed wire and was trying to illustrate why concertina wire needed pickets to stop it just being crushed easily with blankets etc and a google search led to the British Pathe. I watched this footage a couple of times and I think I see Patent resin impregnati...
