Hello All, I havn't been on here for a while.?But still check in often. I have just returned from a trip to Flers, where I whent on a bit of a tank hunt. We trudged across a muddy field to where we worked out that D6 was hit. And right there were 2 large pieces of metal. One looked like the rim of a tail wheel. And...
This is a question that has been posed in another forum, and I must confess that I rather wonder the same thing. On the subject of the drivers' cabs, "since each man is in an isolated box with the tracks running under his feet, I wonder how they made the mechanical linkages back to the engine work?&q...
Could anyone help me identify this piece? Apparently it is a experimental or prototype grenade launcher from ww1 made by the British for tank or armoured car use.... Any info welcome. Best regards,Allen.
Hello Gentlemen, Only four nations used tanks in WW1: British, French, Germans, and Americans and they were used only on the Western Front (the only exception being British tanks in Palestine). But soldiers of which nations had to fight against tanks? Of course Germans, British, French and?Turks...

Citizens; I am less certain nowadays of something about which I was once totally certain. I have long believed that the anchor-shaped device sometimes attached to the tracks of rhomboids from Mk II onwards was a grouser. The simpler iron-shod wooden block more often carried by Medium Mk A but occasi...
The WWI British tank insignia looked like a simplified British rhomboid. All of the WWI tank pins had likenesses of real tanks on them - except one. The WWI USA Tank Service first pattern insignia.
Off hand, I cant find a really good image of it... But I have seen excellent reproductions of the orig...

Just reading jager's book and other sources its clear that many heavy artillery like the 13cm, 15cm and 17cm naval guns were used by germans to compensate for long-range artillery but none of these sources [ which are all in english for me sadly] give any numbers e.g how many guns were by 1914 or end of 19...
Looking at the page on the German 21cm Morser it says one of the modifications made in 1916 was the addition of a "shield."? Was this shield placed on the top of the gun, covering the recoil tubes?? Or was it the shield to protect the gunners?? I have a photo I'm considering using for a book abou...
Hello, ? this my last attempt of model. As a base I used from the EMHAR building kit 1:35. I get the vision of marking in book from D. Fletcher ,, TANK MARK V ". I suppose that it should be the vehicle from the inventory of 10th batallion from the year 1918. I complete the model kit by track spuds. Now I?m...
In our school our Y9 students have to make a model trench diorama (or they can do a poster or essay if they wish). My son and his friend opted to make the model, even though neither of then enjoys model making); I suspect they wanted to leverage me for advice? I painted the figures, airbrushed on the snow, a...

Having had Bob Grundy's A7V working repro (from Wigan !) parked outside my office for some days, my interest in WW1 tanks has been revived. In particular, I am interested in?Manchester's role in tank manufacture. There was a 'Manchester Tank Group', headed by West's Gas Improvement Company, and co...
Has anyone scale drawings and images of the above. The only plan I can find is in the Shire book Horse Drawn transport of the British Army but that is more of a sketch. Thanks

the centenary of the great war will be upon us in less than two years and I was thinking, there is another thread on this subject but I thought I would raise it again; I was thinking of emailing the model companies and asking them to produce more?Great War figures and kits, any opinions on this?.?
Hi I'm making a diorama of a short section of trench, flanders, c 1915. Naturally this is going to need sandbags to support the walls and the breastwork, lots and lots of them. I've seen some great instructions for making them individually in milliput, but given how many I need and the fact that the figu...
