French soldiers handling a gun. As I am no expert on the matter, can anyone tell some more? I was wondering if this guns has extra wheels for transport, it looks like regarding the axle stubs. But there are small rollers too. regards, Kieffer
Can anyone tell me more about this picture? The signature says 'C S'. As far as I can determine, it's an oil painting on canvas. An old theme by the way, the painter being painted. This gentleman, a war invalid that's clear, is working on a cartoon like portrait apparantly of the foe. regards, Kieffer
Here are two close-up views of the leather helmet issued to the first British tank crews, which may be useful to modellers; the first image is from Ernest Swinton's "Eyewitness" (1932), and the second is from a good article on British WWI tank uniforms by Paul Hannon "The British Tank Crew's War, 1916...
This'll be my first post on these forums so hello to everyone. I have decided to fill some spare time by making scale model firearms to the greatest accuracy and detail I can achieve. The first one I have completed is this 1/32 Lewis gun, I've included pictures of the bare resin castings and work in progr...

With Ace bringing out a 105mm German gun I was wanting if any were ever painted with camouflage and not just Field Grey. Thanks for the help. I know I will buy at least one or two.
When I have been working on a new model project, the DAIMLER?MARIENWAGEN HALFTRACK, It came up a strange ancestor, brainchild of Mr. Otto Bremmer ; built before WW1 and accoeding to my references and a fuzzy photo I could pic up,( yet not could scan for uploading), sorry. This "BREMMERWAGEN&qu...
With all this talk of Armourfast etc has anyone got any opinions/views on the Millicast 1 War stuff. I have the Whippet and it seems OK the fact that its 1/76 and compared to the Emhar one is quite small.
Hi all, I've just been in touch with Bovington Tank Museum with a view to buying one of their plan packs for the MKIV. They advised to 'hang fire' as they have just had a stack of original drawings donated by Vickers and are working hard to get these into a revised pack as soon as possible. I'm not sure if it w...
Hi All I was wondering if you could answer a wee question for me? ?I was wondering if the early supply tanks (MK I and II) carried fascine? ?If yes, by chance are there any pictures of them anywhere? Thanks all for your time. Rob
While looking into the question of Belgian uniforms, I wondered if there was any similarity to their neighbours', the Dutch. Info has been very hard to come by, but these are pics, from the New York Times Midweek Pictorial, of Dutch troops being reviewed. Pics published Jan 1917. I thought the Dutch m...
Very much to my surprise after all these years, I have recently discovered that the design of all 3 types of Minenwerfer changed significantly in 1916 or thereabouts, and that Germany had a couple of large, smooth-bore models and a type that fired finned projectiles. I've had a root round the Net, but...
A quick little project while waiting on some materials for the Rolls.? I used the plans on Landships, though I altered the front to resemble the vehicle shown inthe reference photos.?

I was wondering, If I buy an airbrush, Say, Badger 200 gravity feed, would I need anything else to power it, such as some sort of air compressor, or can I use it by itself and spray away like Stalin's personal photo editor? Thanks, Hugh.
This series of films is entirely new to me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmyc_p20o_c It seems to be a BBC Worldwide production, but the Timewatch logo appears in it. Anyone recognise it? Don't be put off by the fact that it starts with footage from Westfront 1918 and the fake French Tanks. It gets...
For those interested Stefan's dio in all its glory is in Military Modelcraft International magazine, the December issue Volume 15 Number 2. Superb modelling.
Does anyone have any information about the Rolls Royce Armoured Car Roden are planning to release? I'm really hoping they'll do a WWI version like in the photos attached, with the taller cupola and spoked wheels, although maybe they'll only do the 1920 version because of more available sources? (ie...
Did the camo continue to the top of the tank? From the pictures I have seen it looks as if it stopped and did not continue to the roof but did exist on the "turret"(driver/commander).
I know this may very per tank so it is more a general question.
Thanks,
Chris
Unfortunately don't have my copy of David Fletcher's 'British Tanks 1915-19' with me so can't reference that, but does anyone have information on when the Gun Carriers i) actually carried and used in anger either the 60 pounder or 6 inch howitzer and ii) where/when they used them? If anyone has photo...
Perhaps the most useful thing to emerge from the dreadful WWI From Above is a link to? this remarkable film of the French use of kites for aerial reconnaissance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5dJ9TwaIt4
Hi I'm sure that this has been discussed somewhere, but my search-fu is rather letting me down here. Ever since I saw this photo in a book I've rather wanted to produce a model inspired by it, now I'm sort of ready to get on with it I want to be sure what I'm looking at. The book described it as a Mark II - in as mu...

Hasegawa are asking for suggestions. It's a long shot, but you never know your luck! http://www.hasegawausa.com/suggest-a-model.html Self explanatory when you get to their page.
I am informed, more or less from the horse's mouth, that Max Hundleby is about to release an updated book on the A7V, containing?a great deal of?new information. I'll have the details by next Monday. Amongst other things, it apparently explains the Imperator matter that intrigued us a few months ago...

There has been some discussion on this forum about the Mendeleyev tank, but little actual information on it. The Mendeleyev tank (or self-propelled-gun, to be specific) was one of the first AFVs ever designed, done so by the famous Russian chemist Dimitriv Mendeleyev. Of course, it looks simple, a...
