David Fletcher has recently done a Tank Chat on the Mk V. It's on YouTube here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf6xMm0GVlw Apart from that, though, is what looks like a fascine on top of a tank behind him. Is it new? Wnat tank is it on? Is it real or fake? Anyone know anything?
Following David Fletcher's remark on the Mk IV Tank Chat that fascines were used only at Cambrai - " . . . so if you see a tank with a fascine on it, it must be taking part in the Cambrai action somewhere along the line. . ." - I got to wondering. It's often reported that 400 fascines were made, but were they al...
Ladies & Gents, The above has a very thorough 8 page build article on HMLS Kia-Ora by Pete Heath, based on the Takom Mk.I Female. It is a nice build, with pitfalls of the kit overcome and Mk.I / Gaza features comprehensively tackled. There are some minor misunderstandings or poorly observed deta...

Hi, I just started a new blog called "The Somme Reports". I am transcribing and translating into English the main newspaper articles in July 1916 from the original German newspapers in our archives. I plan to do it for the whole of July 1916. I'm also publishing some of the photos to which we have access...
Has anyone else tried and failed to access the message boards at http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/ ? I've obviously registered at some point, but now can't "verify" myself, and therefore can't post anything. The links seem to send me in circles, and the links to the webmaster don't do anthin...

I understand that Mark I - IV tank engines were manufactured by Daimler who also produced the transmission.I also believe that they built the engines at their Coventry factory Does anyone know who designed and built the gearboxes? Stephen
Having discovered the excellent WD Models 1/76 scale vehicles and figures, I decided to model some WDLR. I could not find any locos available and decided to have a go a scratch building a Simplex 20hp petrol loco for inclusion in a small diorama.

Good day to you all!Starting to work on my Takom Mk.V and looking at the options. In the instruction they tell me, in order to get a hermaphrodite version, to place the sponson with the 6 pounder on the right hand side and the machinegun sponson on the left hand side of the tank .But am I correct that at Sm...
In the last few months, I imported the box and seat section for a German 7,7cm lFK 1896 n/A Limber. I already had the under frame, axel, limber pole, wheels and foot board/trace chain hooks. Last week, I put all the parts together and they fit nicely. My plan is to patch some of the holes in the limber box...
When the 29th Divisional Artillery was reorganised on 23 August 1917 one consequence was the creation of a Trench Mortar group commanded by Capt T S Sayers. Under his command he had 3 French Dumezils (I assume the 58mm medium mortar), 3 Woolwich made 3.7-inch light mortars, and a 6-inch. My query is wh...
Had this version pistol ports on the drive cab roof as Mk IV or periscope mounts as Mk I? Was the pistol port aside of the rear observation hatch present? I look at many pictures but no clear one of the upper hull Thanks.
Was dragged to the above tourist attraction at the weekend. For those unaware, it's the place where German codes were broken during WWII, and early computers developed to speed up the processing of the information. Roughly speaking. IMO it's mostly pretty tedious. For the astonishing fee of £17.5...
Hello All, I recently started work on my 1/16 Takom Renault FT-17 and am making plans to go R/C with it. I was hoping to purchase an Inside the Armor ITA16001 detail kit but, it appears I can no longer purchase one. Does anyone have one or know where I can purchase one? Respectfully, Mark Stonbraker P....
Took this book to the pub this afternoon for a re-read and noticed some things... There is mention of Female '555' being fitted with a narrow cab in anticipation of wider [26.5"?] tracks and a rear mounted fuel tank between the track horns in the space vacated by the [redundant] steering tail arrange...

I'm building Takom's Mk I Male as HMLS 'Sir Archibald' in Gaza. This means omitting the steering tail from the model, but that in turn leaves two holes on the inner faces of the rear horns. Does anyone know if the holes were covered over and if so, by what? Many thanks in advance, Neil
