Not the life-size one (which now seems to have been taken indoors) but the model shewn below. Does anyone know its provenance? Was it built by Burstyn at the time of his attempts to get the vehicle accepted, or is it a later addition? ?

Hi I don't suppose anybody has a sheet of the Decalcomaniacs rhomboid decals spare which they'd be interested in selling do they? I've looked on their ebay shop and they don't list them any more - I'm actually only interested in the ones for 'Perfect Lady'. andy
While perusing the work of the excellent Belgian illustrator James Thiriar I came across this sketch of troops making their way forward through characteristic Flanders weather. The object on the left looks familiar. If it is indeed the Field Kitchen donated by the citizens of Manchester, it will h...
Both military and civilian. It seems that German army and navy uniform hats were of the same basic design, of course with insignia and coloring different. ?Am I right? Also, did pretty much every European wear the same types of hats (fedoras, top hats, skimmers, "Andy Capp" hats), etc.?

As on the GWF I can't find the old topic for this - Regarding the Beamish gun - I believe there's been some question as to the identification of the gun as it could be one of two manufacturers. I naughtily hopped over the fence this weekend - can't see muc...

From time to time we stop to examine one of the unquestioned "facts" about our favourite invention. One which is automatically included in accounts of the Tank's development is that the predecessor of Little Willie was called "No. 1 Lincoln Machine." But was it? By whom was it...
There is a gun outside the courthouse at Modesto, Calif - this was identified as an FK 96 n.A but is a 75mm Krupp export gun possibly an M1910. There are similar guns in Australia captured from the Ottoman forces in Palestine - I thought it may have been one of these which had got to the US. I obtained some sh...
I recently got the Osprey book "U-Boats: 1914-1945" and noted that it depicted German naval uniforms as nearly identical throughout the era. ?I always wanted to depict the rebelling sailors of 1918, but deemed it just a pipe dream until I saw the book-and I have Dragon 1/35 figures of Diep...

Bonjour? I have a new interest in the use of artillery during the GW but I don't know well this subject. Through my reads I understood that: 1914 : shells are mostly of schrapnel type 1915 : extensive use of HE shells from end 1917 : to avoid cratering of the landscape (and to permit the use of tanks) new typ...
