Would anyone by any remote chance have either or both of the Takom Mk I kits they would be prepared to part with? They are literally impossible to find now. I have a hankering to do Basil Henriques' Mk I Female C22 from Flers and Mk II Male 785 from Neuville Vitasse. The Takom kits lend themselves to Mk I...
I recently picked up an Austro-Hungarian Škoda 8cm M.5/8. It is currently demilitarized, but the end goal is to register it and restore it for live fire. It is actually in surprisingly good condition, but I am missing a few minor details—specifically the breech handle, the trigger, and the sight mou...
Hello everyone on the forum - all the best and much success in 2026. Operation Hush - I don´t know how much this topic has been discussed here. I am building a 1/35 scale model - Emhar base + ramp + winch. Please, do you know the answers to the following questions related to the Hush project ? 1, Was the ramp...
There's not much information about this photo. It was taken in Novorossiysk likely after the White Army's evacuation in March 1920. There's a theory that the tank's name is «Chum Deal». This is indirectly hinted at by the unusual Russian inscription. The Russians (apparently with no knowledge of E...
One day, I decided to review my archive of photographs of Mark V tanks sent to Eastern Europe. I consulted a website with tank lists and discovered that some of the information there was outdated. So, I decided to create a small thread where I'll post interesting photos with clarifications.
Was there a standard size for the unditching beam on the Mark IV? The beam seems to be just under 11 feet (about 3300mm) long and the shackles for the chains are located on the center lines of the track frames. Judging from period images there seem to have been variations in the cross section of the beam i...
Couple of videos I hadn't seen before on the Boirault No.1 and No.2 Barbed wire crushing devices. The massive exposed drive chains on the No.1 device beside the drivers would give a modern occupational safety officer a coronary. The No.2 device looks as if it was modified to tow a ramp. It could have b...
Plastic models of WW1 tanks are like hen's teeth unless you can afford the !/35 versions. Managed to pick up a1/72 Emhar female and was looking through Osprey British tanks IV tank, David Fletcher. A couple of pictures drew my attention. Page 10 there is a picture which says it is " a rare example of a Mk...
Dannevoux. January 31, 1919 ) near Verdun( This Howitzer is of 38 cm caliber and was manufactured in Pilsen, Austria in 1917. It was captured September 26 by the 319th Infantry 80th Division. In destroying the gun before leaving the recoil was unfastened and a charge exploded which threw the base cap...
Well, this is a topic that sparked a bit of lively debate a few years ago. Let‘s see how it goes this time. This a French manufactured 75mm M1907A exported for Serbian service. The 75mm M1907 was designed by Scheider but this example was manufactured by Saint Chamod. It was captured by Ottoman/Turki...
I’ve posted in ‘TANKS’ but realised that this might be more appropriate. It seems that it has been nearly 9 years since I was enthusiastically creating grenade canopies, improved steering tails etc, etc for Airfix and Masterbox Mk 1s. I have recently revisited the Airfix model to see what can be do...
. . . arrived in France just before or just after the Armistice. The dates and numbers vary a bit, but that's roughly it. Does anyone happen to know which manufacturer(s) was/were responsible for the few that arrived? The candidates are: Van Doorn, C.L. Best, and Maxwell. Any offers?
Quick question for the group, Does anyone have a contact at either one of the armor collections that they would be willing to share? I know they have Facebook pages, but I've heard they aren't that great about answering inquiries there. Thank you, Chase
I have found an Ottoman/Turkish direct fire sight with the Arabic-Indic numbers "8,7cm" at the top and a maximum range of 4,200 meters indicated in Arabic-Indic. The sight post will fit the German 9cm C/1873 and the Prussian export version of the 8cm C/1864. The maximum range is a bit short for the 9...
Here's a still from from this short film I stumbled across: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DR7Rbu6gLln/ I've never come across this before. It seems to be a mock-up film of an anti-tank crew firing at a dummy Renault FT. The tracks look similar to those on the mock-up FT in Westfront 1918. I do...
Just after building the model of Jeffery Armored Car No.1 from 1916, I wanted to make a model of the earlier version this vehicle.Due to various reasons this idea was suspended for many years. But now I have better pictures, and despite of the fact that I still do not have complete information about the...
During February 2013, on a visit to the Marine Corp Recruit Depot [MCRD] Museum in San Diego, I noticed an outside display?improperly marked gun. I brought this to the attention of the Museum Director and about a month ago I received [edited response] the following email. Also, Glen Williford worke...
I see a lot of kits come out one after another of German WW2 kits including those of little- or never-produced vehicles, but it seems that for WW1, everything British or French or American is being produced. You'd think we'd be seeing plenty of 77mm cannons or support vehicles by now. Understandabl...
Did Defensively Armed merchant Ships and Q Ships create Unrestricted Submarine Warfare? I was just reading on the internet that the author thinks the arming of merchant ships, making them outgun submarines, and then finally creating Q Ships to trap and destroy submarines made it too dangerous for...
I've received an email from someone whose grandfather was a gunner in #8021 when it was ditched, broke down and was abandoned on 23/4/1918. It seems that there are no images of #8021 on line and I said I'd ask on the forum if anyone has or knows of an image of this tank. Anyone? Charlie
I am presently working on creating a replacement driver/commanders cupola (width corrected, rivet detail etc, etc) and a ‘roof’ with the circular access and riveted joints corrected etc (with thanks to Mk1 Nut and all the work she has done). My prototype print indicated a need to increase the size...
You are probably aware that I have been posting improvements for the new MB Mk 1 tank steering? tail and that I have mentioned that some of the techniques apply to the Airfix unit.? Well in an idle moment I started modifying a spare Airfix tail and decided I should post the work for anyone to follow, well a...
This may appear to be a dumb question but someone out there might have the answer. I have managed to obtain a resin gun carrier but I would like to improve it by adding the rear steering wheels as seen on many pictures of this afv. unfortunately I have drawn a blank on the internet on how they were attached ....
For those interested in larger scale, Inkor from Ukraine has files available on Cults for a 1/16 A7V that can be built either as a static or RC model. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/a7v
Hi guys, been awhile since I last made a post on Landships. I am currently making a 3D animation on the production of ww1 tanks for a project of mine, and I was wondering if anyone has information on how the tanks were built step by step. It would be greatly helpful. This is my current progress of some of the...
Is there any true in the story that the first MkIs built at Fosters at Lincoln were dark Green in colour? Seems rather far fetched that the good Lincolnshire buisnessmen that owned Fosters used up available paint available from their stores. I ask because it would be a alternative to the usual brown. F...
