I enclose a shot of the big steamer showing the mud srapers on the horns. Its the guy standing under the horns thats of interest as he appears to be one of the Chinese labour corps employed at CSW Erin. Does this mean that the Tank Corps played host to this tank?
BTW why has a target been plac...

Hello gentlemen,
Long time no see, but I was only able to grab landship decals now from it's distributor in Portugal. I have done a Mk II male based on Airfix kit and I'd like to finish it as Lusitania. My questions are:
- What colour should I use? I've read that it would be with some sort of dark Kha...
A 6 minute action clip from the upcoming movie "Flyboys", about the Lafayette Escadrille. In the clip members of the Lafayette Escadrille attacks a German Gotha bomber.

I think that this photo of an early Carden lloyd experiment clearly shows why the one man tank concept never really took off. Its impossible to steer and fire at the same time and the arc of fire is very limited.
I greet all :)

More on the Vollmer saga
The following pdf appears to contain much detail on how Vollmer and Daimler transfered the technology behind the A7V and LKII into Hannomag tractors. I'm can get some of the general gist but my German is very weak indeed and Babel fish doesn't seem much better

Gentlemen!
I want to put pictures in the landships-site. Anything bigger than 5 MB seems to overload the system. Is there anyone outside or inside to help me with this stuff?
There are so many interesting things to relate but Herr Kempf and Tim Rigsby are not
in reach to deal with the problem. As I...
In the thread on RR armoured cars someone mentioned Wedding Bells. I've opened this new thread as this car doesn't neatly fit into the catalogue having gone. through at least two metamorphoses.
The car started life in 1911 as one of the Rajah of Ticca's fleet. Although most texts describe it as a sta...
When digging for something completely different I cam across the following photos. Well known vehicles but I think slightly different photos. If you have seen these before apologies.
I've seen a reference to the St Chamond Mortier de 280 sur Chenilles 1918 self propelled gun being used by the Germans in Russia in 1943. Anbody know if this is correct?
After reading a lot about tanks, I was very interested in the various concepts of trying to improve steering and traction on tanks.
I always thought the idea of a Single Band Tracked Vehicle was very interesting, but of course, you could never steer it.
Then I thought... What about De Moles co...

The enclosed tank photo may be of one of the tourers. The photo is of the welcome home of Sergeant John Collins of the Royal Welch Fusiliers and the ceremony appears to have taken place in Cyfarthfa Park. Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, South Wales. This park also received a presentation tank, a pho...
It seems that tank weeks as part of fund raising were not confined to Britain and at last some American cities had these as well. I have found a refeence to a tank fundraising event in Los Angeles in August 1918 in which "there will be a mock battle with a British tank" (who will be battling it doesn't say&n...
Hello,
I am looking for any pictures or photos and information on the Rolls Royce Armoured Car Indian Pattern from the early 1920's. It is allegedly a Rolls Royce with Crossley-Style Round-domed turret. I have never seen any evidence of this particular Rolls Royce Armoured Car.
Thanks
I've read some time ago at jedsite.info site that two "The Best 75 Tracklayer"'s were introduced in San Francisco.. it might have been a public introduction.. so there must be something like newspaper articles, some photos or stuff...
If anyone could find anything I think that many people should...
Before I post any further on the subject below please can I have some feedback? If its too boring (especially for non British readers) I'll keep further material on this on my files.
In late 1917 three Mk IV male tanks went on a fund raising (war savings) tour around the UK. These were 113 Julian, 130 Ne...
Hello,

I bought a random assortment of issues of the 'Tankette M.A.F.V.A.' Magazine off of Ebay. I bought them at a good price, the reason being I wanted the issue about the WWII New Zealand Schofield Tank. However, some of the issues I found a surprising ammount of WWI and pre WWI stuff aswell, so I thought I sh...
Given the references to Tank Bank in a previous thread I thought it might help understanding to provide some information as to what this was so I've nicked the following from a BBC web site.
Banking on the tankIn November 1917, the Tank Corps achieved its first concentrated breakthrough at Cam...
I enclose another scanned image. This shows flimsies being unloaded at the tankodrome amidst a number of sponsonless Mk Is. The date is later than April 1917 as in the far background sits a Mk IV female (I enclose a blowup). The Mk Is are not passive hulks as exhaust fumes show motors running. They do not...
