I have seen pictures of this armored car in many books, and I'm sure most of you have also.
However, in every single book I have, it is simply called a "French armored car". So I have never learned its true name or history!

I've seen several mentions of a pre-WW1 French AFV of some kind, referred to as The Levavasseur Machine.
I haven't been able to find any pictures of it, and the only Levavasseur I can find seems to have been an early aircraft designer.

Have a look at this site for "autochrome" WW1 photographs. It was a complicated but effective way of producing real colour shots in the early 20th Century. Brilliant scenes from within and behind the front line, showing authentic colours.
